Strong Women…

Throughout history there have been a lot of strong women you have activist, singers, actress, and much more…most importantly is that all these women have something in common…they all had to overcome obstacles and be strong when time calls for it…you think if Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova wasn’t strong she would be the first woman in space? Or if Harriet Tubman wasn’t strong, she would  lead an estimated 70+ slaves to freedom? What about Joan Baez if she wasn’t strong would she have ever marched with the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr? These are a few of the many great, strong, educated, talented, risk-taker women throughout history; from the beginning of this world till now…

The emotional, sexual, and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, “It’s a girl.”  ~Shirley Chisholm

So everyone knows that there has been / and are strong women throughout our era…so “why” write this post…I want to talk about the women who don’t make it in the newspaper…the women who don’t make it in the magazine…the women who don’t make it to the television…the unspoken heroes…the strong women in our life… the ones who have given us strength, courage, spirit to be were we are at…

I look at the single mothers, who have to play the mom and dad role…who have to make the tough decisions by themselves…who have to cry, laugh, motivate their child / children by themselves each day…those women don’t get a medal, a Grammy, a stipend…however, they are strong women…to them I say “thank you”…I look at all the mothers, who have to care for their child / children plus their spouse…who have to sometimes work outside the house to support the family…who keeps their house & family in order…who goes to the baseball or basketball games while dad works late…those women don’t get a break, a trophy, an award…however, they are strong women…to them I say “thank you”…I look at the career women, who work day in / day out to get to the position they hold…who have to overcome stereotypical remarks…who have to overcome gender racism…those women don’t get a woman’s club, a day off, a life…however, they are strong women…to them I say “thank you”

It is not about physical strength…it is about mental strength…men and women have one thing in common they are humans…so why does a man think he is superior to a woman? Why does a man think he can do more than a woman? Why does a woman have to prove herself in the same job as a man…while a man doesn’t have too? The only thing that separates a man from a woman is the genitalia…other than that we are the same, we bleed the same blood, we sweat the same sweat, we eat the same food, we survive the same whether is a concrete jungle, the country, or a “real” jungle…

Why do the strongest women in this world…a “mother”only gets one day to celebrate how much she means to us? A father is important as well, and being a “man” I think we are needed to bring a balance to this world…I look at it as “yin-yang”…but, I think is time for us men to realize that women from the youngest to the oldest in our life is strong…they have always been a minority in history…however, without them we wouldn’t survive…

I dare you to tell that strong woman in your life “thank you”
